From 20-21st of October 2011 the follow-up conference on European Standards of Care for Children with Cancer was held in Warsawa (Poland).

Two years after the “Standards of Care in Paediatric Oncology” for European countries had been drafted and published a follow-up meeting was called for in Warsaw to evaluate the progress these standards may have initiated. Though the differences of the care for children with cancer throughout Europe are still obvious, in many areas progress could be documented. Those reports were seen as positive impulses combined with the urge to implement those standards wherever possible. Parent initiatives can be a strong and effective partner in lobbying with the authorities.

See SIOP Europe website for a detailed conference summary and presentations.
