João de Bragança (Portugal) lost in 2001 his 7 year old daughter Madalena to a diffuse pontine glioma. He is the president of Acreditar, the Portuguese association of children with cancer. He is a mechanical engineer with a Master’s degree in Literature Theory and a doctoral candidate in the same area. After working 20 years for a multinational company he is now a full-time translator.

Rodney Wong

Rod is a parent of a 24 years ALL survivor. He was part of the pioneer team of Sarawak Children Cancer Society & is their Immediate Past President.
Currently, he work as a Chief Executive Officer in consumer packaged food company in Malaysia.

Luisa Basset

Luisa is mother of a survivor of a mature B-cell ALL diagnosed in 1990. Since then, she is involved at local, national and international levels, representing Federación. Española de Padres de Niños con Cáncer. She is an architect and Professor at the School of Architecture in Valencia.

Daniel Mckenzie

Executive Director of Kidzcan Zimbabwe, a local NGO in Zimbabwe. Daniel is a great communicator and renowned broadcaster. He is an excellent diplomat, with great empathy and passion towards making a difference in the lives of children suffering from cancer.

Nagm is a parent of a survivor and has served CHOC since 1999 as a volunteer. He is married to Heloise and has two boys. He is a Financial Planner, Wealth Manager and currently serves on the CHOC board as Chairman and is very passionate about making sure that the parent and child who suffers from cancer can get the best possible support that can be provided in South Africa

Kate Johnson

Kate is the mother of a childhood cancer survivor. Since 2017 she has been the Chair of the Parent’s Advisory Group in the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital where she is passionate about enhancing the patient experience and raising awareness of paediatric cancer. Kate has a PhD in Sleep Psychophysiology. She is based in Melbourne, Australia where she lives with her husband and 4 children.

Alejandra Mendez

Alejandra is the mother of a childhood cancer survivor. After that experience, she decided to devote herself to giving every child who is diagnosed with cancer the same opportunities to survive the disease. Since 2015, she has volunteered as a teacher at the in- hospital school that Fundación Nuestros Hijos runs in Chile. She also serves as Vice President and board member of the organization. Since 2021 she serves as a member of the Board of Trustees at CCI (Childhood Cancer International) and as the Co-Chair at the SIOP Global Health Network PFSE Working Group (Patient, Family, Stakeholder Engagement)

Alejandra holds a degree in education and translation from Universidad Católica de Santiago, and a Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Harvard University. She is based in Santiago, Chile where she lives with her husband and three sons.

Bindu N Nair

Bindu N Nair is the Founder and Managing Trustee of  Aroh-Giving Hope which started in 2013 in South India to help the children with Cancer in her city. Aroh now works with 40+ hospitals in India, supporting more than 5,000 children. She has 20 years of experience in Social Work and has taken the cause of Childhood Cancer as her mission in life. She also holds Double Masters in both English Language  and Literature and Sociology.

CCI Regional Committees are coordinating and supportive mechanisms which are intended to provide guidance and support to member organizations within their region.

They serve as catalysts and enablers : a) helping to more fully engage and involve CCI member organizations, b)sustaining their drive and passion , c) encouraging them to work more closely with other CCI members within their region and beyond and d)supporting them to expand and deepen their existing alliances and partnerships.
