This year, Childhood Cancer International (CCI) and the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) are joining forces in a global campaign to inspire action, break down barriers, and promote the gold ribbon as the universal symbol of childhood cancer awareness.
September marks Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a special time when the international community unites to highlight the challenges faced by patients, caregivers, survivors, and healthcare professionals. In 2025, the global campaign led by CCI and SIOP will build on insights gathered in 2024 and turn them into solutions, showcasing regional initiatives that are reducing inequalities in access to care and advancing research.

For many years, organizations worldwide have illuminated landmarks, buildings, and monuments in gold during September as part of the “Light It Up Gold!” campaign. This tradition continues in 2025, sending a powerful, visual message of hope and solidarity to communities everywhere.
CCI and SIOP are calling on building managers, institutions, monument owners, and local authorities to participate by lighting their façades in gold throughout the month. For those without lighting systems, the campaign encourages displaying large gold ribbons on building fronts or offices as a highly visible symbol of support.
