WHA 2015 Side-event: “Childhood cancer: the importance of universal access to treatment, care and support”

Co-hosted by: the Russian Federation, Germany, Philippines and Ghana with statements from SIOP and CCI

On Monday 18 May 2015 will take place for the first time a childhood cancer side event in the WHA. This historical breakthrough event is scheduled for 18:00 – 19:30 hrs, Palais des Nations, Room XXIV, Geneva (Switzerland).

It is of high strategic importance as the World Health Assembly is the highest decision making body of the World Health Organization and brings together political leaders, health ministers and international civil society organizations to deliberate and decide on global health and development concerns. Decisions and  commitments made in the WHA influence  national health priorities, programs and resource allocation. This happens only once a year and side events are thoroughly screened and rigorously selected.
